My daughter would like to share her toilets/showers with the same-sex. She’s not bothered about being in an entirely female block though - she’d just prefer to share these type of facilities with female students. Maybe be on a corridor or floor that is female only in a mixed block if that’s an option? We don’t think we can afford the en-suite options!
Hello, apologies for the delay in getting you a response on this! I believe we do offer blocks of this sort, and if you get in contact with [email protected] then our accommodation team will be able to advise on how you ensure that you're booking this.

does anyone know when we would find out what accommodation we get because when applying for SAAS it asks for an 'In term' address
Thank you for your question and apologies for the delay in getting you a response! I believe for the purposes of a SAAS application you can just put down Hillhead Student Village, Don St, Aberdeen AB24 1WU if you don't have a specific block booked already. That should be sufficient for SAAS but if they need more details please let us know!

I have firmed an unconditional offer and applied for accomodation. I was wondering when will we know what accomodation we have been allocated is?
Thanks for your question and apologies for the delay in getting you a reply on this! By this stage I hope you will have heard back on your accommodation application but please contact [email protected] of you need any further clarification on this.

how does the ranking system for accomodation work ? I have put an alchool free block as my last option however i was wondering that even if there is space in options I have ranked above it will I still get put in my 5th choice if it is undersubsribed ?
Thank you for your questions and apologies for the delay in replying! I can assure you that you would not get put into your 5th choice just because it was undersubscribed. I assume this is when you have noted your interest rather than booking? When you book accommodation you will be able to select an accommodation option which still has spaces available and so this isn't something you need to worry about at this stage (easier said than done I know!).

Is the food court like a canteen where we can get breakfast lunch and dinner?
Thank you for your question and apologies for the delay in replying to you! There is a shared eating space in the central Hillhead building but we do not have a canteen there providing food at this time. We have got a food court in the Student Union Building on campus which is open during term time through most of the day though not into the evenings. You can find information on what they offer here: https://www.abdn.ac.uk/about/campus/old-aberdeen/food-drink-and-retail/student-union-building/
There are also other cafes on campus which do breakfast and hot drinks. As for evening meals, you will have a shared kitchen space in your accommodation for making meals and delivery drivers do deliver to Hillhead. There is a Lidl nearby (https://maps.app.goo.gl/x1DXNQiX96eeH6sK9) and we hope at some point soon to have a convenience shop opening at Hillhead itself.

I hope this information is helpful and let me know if you have any more questions!

Hi all, welcome to the University of Aberdeen accommodation thread!
I understand that accommodation options is something a lot of people have on their mind when going to university. Most of you will be leaving home for the first time, many of you will be moving to a different part of the country entirely, and wanting to know about where you're going to be living will be a primary concern.
I thought it would be useful to have a thread about what accommodation is available in Aberdeen and a space for you all to ask any questions you might have about it. Be they questions about the location of accommodation, what facilities are available, or what you may need to know before moving out, I hope this thread will provide a space for you to ask any questions you may have and chat with any other people who are considering a move to Aberdeen!
Just a couple of key links for the start of the thread:

Hi, how long is the leasing term for the University of Aberdeen accommodation? Can I stay in the accommodation during holidays and vacations?

Typically accommodation contracts are for 40 weeks and yes you're welcome to stay in them over holidays in the winter for instance. You are also able to stay in university accommodation over the summer but it will likely be in a different room to where you have been the rest of the year. I hope that helps and let me know if you have any more questions!
