Some clothes need to be hand wash only so you need to follow the guidelines for the particular item.

You wash it same way as if it was in washing machine but you doing by hand ( soap powder or whatever you use in the water) and then give it a good wash through, then empty the water in sink away, fill with cold water ( warm if you want) and keep rinsing it out until you have no soap left in your clothes and make sure you get as much water out of the clothing as possible and then hang up on washing line or clothes horse ( remember as well some clothes can't be tumble dried)

It does work - think back to the days when there wasn't any washing machines about as everyone back then hand wash there clothes.

It work but only on a small scale, the drying is a real bottleneck. You have to do your best with wringing out and then dry on a line or radiator. Not many mangles around these days
