Hey everyone,
Congratulations on those who have offers for HKVS!! You should be so proud of yourself!
I thought it might be nice to have this thread to talk about all things HKVS 2025... going to offer holder days? What host campus to live at? Ask current students questions etc...
Hopefully see you all there!

Is HK accredited or due to be accredited for 2025 entry?

From my knowledge it’s due to be accredited this year as the first cohort graduate in 2025

Hi! I’m also a “mature student”, I’m 28 this year and been given an offer. So it’s great to hear someone else is in a similar position!
I’m planning on working part time around the course.
Re living for me - It all depends if my partner who is an A&E Dr can move his job closer to Harper or Keele will depend if I’ll live off campus or on campus? And I was wondering if there are any other mature students who have lived off campus, and if so, where!? 😄

Oh amazing, so nice knowing there will be other people around my age! I’ve been thinking about accommodation too. If they had a mature halls of residence I would stay there, but I’ve looked on their website and can’t see anything. If that’s not the case I’ll probably try and find a house share with other mature students 🙂

Hi everyone I received my H&K offer a couple of weeks ago 😁 I’ll be 22 when starting the course and it will be my second degree.

Does anyone know if they do specific offer holder days at HKVS?

I’m the same as you, will be 22 when we start. I was going to email them and ask about whether there’s an offer holder day

I would hope so but I don’t know for sure. I applied to Harper Adams for a different course and got an email the other week about an offer holder day for that course but there was no vet med option.

My son received his Vet Med offer from Harper and Keele last week, absolutely thrilled! Grades permitting he’ll be starting straight after A-levels. He did a residential experience at Harper Keele in the summer and had a great time.

Congratulations to all those receiving offers, Harper Keele is a great Vet School.

They replied to my question about offer holder day saying this “I can confirm that we will be holding Offer Holder Days at both campuses and our Admissions team will be in touch with all offer holders very soon with more information about this.”

I visited harper at the open day, then went to Keele for my interview but I don't know where to go for the offer holders day. I liked both campuses so i'm finding it hard to choose which one will be my preference. I think i'm leaning towards Harper because I liked the onsite farm but it's also so rural. Its so hard to choose!

That’s great to know that there will be other people a similar age to me! Thanks @lilcud for sharing your email response with us.

I also am holding a HK offer for September. I’m 17 so all things uni seem like huge choices to be making right now😅 how does anyone decide which campus to put as preference? I’ve visited both campuses and tbf I liked them both. I’m also worried as I hate party’s so I’m worried about the social side- I know it will be the same anywhere I go! Thank you!

My son is at Keele. It’s quiet campus but less farmy than harper.

Both offer holder days at the Harper Adams campus are full, I hope they release more dates, really hoping to go to one!

Hey! Yeah so I’m currently doing Vet Bioscience and just had an offer to study Vet Med as a graduate too, sorry if I wasn’t so clear! There are defo mature students on Vet Med, I’ve chatted to a few that are new for this year! Also remember on other courses at HA, you definitely won’t be the oldest here, there are loads of masters students and PhD students too! The social side of HA generally is just incredible! I love the campus vibe and how close everything feels, like a real community! There are loads of societies and clubs which are just great! I don’t really want to go to another uni! On an academic side, having the farm and being in a rural setting is so handy! I’m not sure about a job specifically on VetMed, I’m sure people do it, and there are plenty of places to work in Newport and on campus but it would entirely depend on how you manage your time! Hope this helps and hopefully see you in September!

I'm thinking of doing this, but how does the funding work for the 2nd degree? Do you have to fund it entirely or do you get some help from the uni?

Hey! So your first undergrad (vetbio) can be funded by Student finance England (assuming your from England, not Wales or Scotland) and you can get tuition fee and maintenance loan.
Your second degree (VetMed) I believe you get maintenance loan, but not tuition fee, so that part would be self funded. Once you’re 25, SF is no longer based on your parents and so you would be eligible for the full amount (I believe)! I havnt got that far yet, not that organised!
