Does ur cat get on with dogs ?

He's never lived with dogs so I’m not sure, what kind of dog were you thinking of getting? He’s lived with cats with no issues and he’s senior so he’s very chill

Hi! I used TSR all the time when applying to vet school so thought I'd log on now haha. I'm a second year at HK (Keele campus). If you have any questions, ask and I'll try answer!

Hi, I was in the Oaks. It was really nice, the kitchen was a little small though. They will email you with links to apply for accommodation later on! Until then you just have to wait for results day, and the email comes out to choose accom preferences

Hey, I'd love to know how you find the Keele campus! I'm only able to attend a Harper Adams offer holder day so any information will be so helpful in making my choice!

If your offer holder day is like how mine was, you get to visit the other campus too! My offer holder day was based at Keele, but we took the coach over to Harper for a bit!
I really like Keele campus. Stoke / Newcastle as an area aren't the best (not exactly very pretty, and not tonnes to do - but there's enough), but Keele is lovely! It is so easy to get to the shops, and the bus /uber to the train station isn't far.

Hey everyone,
Congratulations on those who have offers for HKVS!! You should be so proud of yourself!
I thought it might be nice to have this thread to talk about all things HKVS 2025... going to offer holder days? What host campus to live at? Ask current students questions etc...
Hopefully see you all there!

Thank you!

I do have a question about student finance if anyone can help. I heard back from Harper & Keele first so as soon as student finance opened, I applied and put down Keele knowing I could change it later on. In my offer email it said I would get an email explaining student finance for that specific course around February however I never received one. I ended up accepting the offer and when I did the host preference form I put down Keele anyways, but I was wondering if this is the correct method/ what happens if I get placed in Harper instead? Student finance doesn’t have an option for the Vet school as its own uni so I just assumed to put down the campus I preferred as I couldn’t find anything in any of the online documents.

I’m having the same problem with there being two Unis for freshers as well 😅. Both Facebook groups are advertising freshers tickets already but we don’t know where we’re gonna be based until the end of August 😆

It's right to put your host campus, and if Keele is your preferred choice I pretty much guarantee you'll get placed there, so don't worry. I don't know of anyone that didn't get their preferred campus. Worst case though you'll be able to contact student finance

Hi! I’m a mature student (21) just graduating from my first degree im Liverpool and thinking of firming HK. Im definitely a bit apprehensive since living in a city for 3 years if Im going to enjoy living in/around either Keele or Harper. I didn’t manage to attend any of the offer holder days, but I have lots of farmer mates at home that went Harper. Are many other people also in a similar boat graduating and going back and nervous about being older etc?! Also how did they pick their host campus because i’m struggling!!!

I’m graduating from harper (vet bioscience) and going to firm HKVS, I think based at Keele for a bit of a change - I will be 23 when we start in September

I am a second year at HK. I had a gap year so am 20 and I guess 'usual' uni age. But in my year, we have SO many mature students. A lot have done a degree already. And about 50% have had a gap year / resat / done a degree. It honestly seems like those fresh out of A levels are the minority really! So I wouldn't worry about being older. I reckon you'd be more so the average age. we have a few who are even 30+. If you want more of a university feel, keele is better. I liked Harper, but it just feels too much like a college to me, not a uni campus. Keele is just a usual big uni, but it is a really nice campus with woods and lots of lakes, easy transport links etc. If you live at Harper, you would definitely benefit from a car. I dont have a car yet and have been just fine at Keele

Thank you so so sooo much for this!!! So insightful, I was thinking of Keele over Harper tbf because I completely get what you mean by the feel at HAU. Where abouts do Keele students live is it mostly stoke? I don’t want to live in halls again so wanted to look at house shares

No most live in Newcastle under Lyme. Eg I am a 5 min drive from campus / 25-30 min walk (because it is up a big hill haha!!) There are a load of student houses in Newcastle. There is a regular bus service that goes from town/popular student streets/campus every 15 minutes, and that takes about 15 minutes from the bus station near the shops.

There are also a few options for studio flats near town, about the same price as halls (but more expensive than a house), incase you are unable to find a house share

How long after firming your offer did you get an email to apply for accommodation? Or have no emails been sent yet?
