Cardiff Nursing 2025

Hey so I applied for Adult nursing in Cardiff towards the end of Dec and I still haven't heard back from them and its kinda worrying me. Does Cardiff usually take this long to respond? Because some of my friends who do other courses like Optometry has already got offers.

Hi there,

Im sorry to hear that, that's frustrating. I wouldn't be worried though, as it may mean other interviews are still taking place, because you won't hear back until they have completed all the interviews. I have heard some people getting responses back later this year too, and they've still been positive, so I wouldn't worry yet. But I am sorry that it's taking longer than you'd expect.

I applied in the first week of Jan and haven't yet received an interview invite yet. I heard that Cardiff sends out interviews in batches and I think they'd probably start sending out interviews after the applications have closed.

Hey, Cardiff is probably going to close down its nursing school so do we need to withdraw our offers or wait until Cardiff declines us or is the nursing school not 100% closed yet?

Hi there,

So this is all still speculation! Students currently at the university will still be able to graduate from their programmes - nothing is going be changing quickly. Anyone with an offer to start their course in 2025 will still be able to do so.

Just for some reassurance - course changes and School mergers are a fairly common thing to happen at universities, they just don't usually happen on a bigger scale like now. You may or may not have probably seen, but other universities across the UK are making the same kind of changes so its not unique to Cardiff.

I think some people have and some still haven't, so I wouldn't worry, but I know it can be frustrating, and i'm sorry about that but fingers crossed!

In a statement, the executive director of RCN Wales, Helen Whyley said: "I am very concerned about Cardiff University’s proposal to close its School of Nursing. This proposal comes at a time when Wales is facing a severe nursing shortage, with thousands of vacancies placing immense pressure on an already overstretched workforce.”

I got an email on the 21st of Feb requesting I confirm that I still want my application to be considered by 7th March. I did that but I didn’t hear from them anymore. I’ll send a follow up email tomorrow and wait. Did you get the mail too?

I didn’t get an email but I did email them asking whether they’re going to still consider applications given the recent news. They said my application is unaffected and should I be given an offer, I’d be able to complete my course without any problem. I hope they get back to us this following week!!
