Got a third in a first year law module.
So essentially, I’ve gotten a third in one of my law modules, wanted to know if it screws up my chances at vacation schemes and training contracts 😭😭

g relax urself I bagged a third in one module and I'm still gucci. Got 2 vac schemes locked in so it's calm. Just bless ur other modules and you're good

First off, don’t panic, it’s totally normal to feel worried about this, but one lower grade in your first year won’t ruin your chances at vacation schemes or training contracts! Most firms don’t place much weight on first-year grades, as they understand it’s an adjustment period where you’re still getting to grips with studying law at university.
What really matters is how you perform in your second and third years when the grades count toward your final degree classification. Focus on improving your grades going forward, firms love to see upward trends because it shows resilience and a willingness to learn from setbacks.
Also, remember that law firms look at more than just grades. Building a strong CV with work experience, extracurricular activities, and pro bono work is just as important. You can explain any lower grades during applications or interviews by focusing on how you’ve improved since then and the steps you’ve taken to develop your skills.
You’ve got plenty of time to turn things around, so don’t let this one result discourage you! Keep working hard, and you’ll still be in a great position to land those vacation schemes and training contracts.

Don’t worry! Besides if you continue to preserve with you other modules and throughout the course then one third is nothing. Trust me, you’ve got this! <3
