Publishing essays or papers as a student

Any students published an essay or paper? How did you do it, and what was it on. I’m writing a philosophy paper and would love to publish ( only as it’s useful for uni ).

I published scientific literature as a PhD “student” , you can either submit an abstract to a journal and they will then review & invite you to submit a draft if they deem it suitable or some places will invite people to write a paper although this is typically more likely with a “special issue” following an academic conference but not exclusively. Or you can do a chapter in a book (or full book), typically a lead editor or publisher will approach people they want with details.

Prior to having a PhD or suitable credentials highlighting your background as relevant & experienced you won’t get published in a professional academic context (for obvious reasons). Even PhD candidates typically have reputable professors names alongside their name on submissions. Although there is nothing stopping you uploading your work open-source somewhere and then promoting it.

I wss published in philosophy in my third year and again at master's level. There are people publishing in philosophy (and especially the phil sections of Indology) who don't have degrees, much less doctoral degrees. It is possible.

OP, it is possible but it requires submissions to journals and everything else associated with that (review, revisions etc) - this is if it gets past the editor's desk, and there's no guarantee of that.

What might be a surer bet is if you submit it to undergraduate journals - there are plenty about and the threshold for acceptance is, obviously, much lower.
