Hey, :hello:

There is some great options that you have linked.

However, each placement provider will have different rules on what footwear that you can wear. For example, some may not allow typical trainers like the nike air force. I think your best option is to contact your placement provider (if you already know who this is) and ask them on the rules on footwear. That way you are not purchasing footwear that you end up not allowed to wear.

Hopefully some nurses on here can give you advice on the best footwear. Comfort is key not fashion as you will be on your feet all day.

I hope this helps!

Ideally you want comfortable, closed all around, black waterproof or leather shoes with cushioning. When trying to find the right shoes, I think it would be helpful to consider shoes which are non slip, breathable and wipeable. I would personally avoid trainers as I heard not all trusts allow trainers, but I included them on the list bellow nonetheless.

Here are some suggestions:

Clarks Un Loop

Clarks Pro Gem Shoes

Sketchers Sure Track Shoes

Toffeln SmartSole Shoe

Sketchers Dynamight EV Trainers

Good luck.
All unis will have a uniform policy (eg see attached https://www.newman.ac.uk/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/2023/03/Newman-University-SoNAH-uniform-policy-v1-Feb23-2.pdf) it definitely has to meet infection control requirements ie.Non -porous and wipeable ( imagine a vomit or faecal/ urine incident!). Trainers may not be acceptable.

I wear Skechers, had them for almost 2 years and the soles are the best. Plus they don't get scratched when I apply or take off bed brakes. They are pricey but you can get a similar style around £80. I don't recommend the leather/smooth topped shoes because your feet will get hot during your shift, cold in the winter months and again, could get scratched up on placement https://www.skechers.co.uk/skechers-slip-ins-max-cushioning-arch-fit-2.0/197976393530.html
