If I have been in the UK for three years at the start of my second year of University, would I be elligable to apply for student finance??

Hi there, it needs to be 3 years before the very start of your course to be eligible for the funding. Thanks, Jason

Hi there,

You would need to be ordinarily resident in the UK and Islands for the 3 years prior to the first day of the first Academic Year of your course. What nationality are you and when exactly did you move to the UK. Did you get no funding at all for your 1st year? Is your 2nd year in the 2024/25 academic year?

I'm Romanian, moved to the UK in September 2023 for my A-Levels and my second year will be the 2026/2027 academic year in university.

So your 1st year is in the 2024/25 academic year? Before moving to the UK did you live in Romania for 3 years? Do you have pre-settled or settled status under the EU settlement scheme?

I'm just finishing my A-Levels this year, so my first year will be 2025/26 at university. I've been living in the UK for about 1 year and a half. I don't have any status, as I came into the UK after Brexit. I have a child eVisa
