Struggling with Improving My English Fluency - Need Advice

Hi everyone,

I’ve been learning English for a while now, but I’m really struggling to improve my fluency. I feel like I know a lot of vocabulary and can understand written texts, but when it comes to speaking or holding a conversation, I freeze up.

Does anyone have tips or strategies for improving speaking skills and overcoming this barrier? I’m also looking for resources to help me practice more effectively. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance!

hi! i have the same problem since im learning spanish and what ive found helps is speaking to my mates who are also learning in spanish so its less daunting if you mess up and also trying to think in the language if that makes sense. another thing that i havent actually tried but ive heard theyre good is websites like babbel where you can talk to native speakers. id also recommend listening to some english music or watching english shows so you can pick up on pronunciation and its an easy way to learn vocab that isnt in written text but more like slang. just keep in mind that if you do pause in a conversation or if its not completely fluent thats okay because you will pick it up the more you speak so just try and have a conversation and its okay to stop and ask how do you say that in english or even if you make a mistake thats fine because fluency isnt necessarily about getting all the vocab 100% right but to keep the conversation flowing as much as possible
