Introducing myself on TSR

I’m a new user and I’ve been invited to introduce myself on the platform.

I am not, in fact, Alfonso X of Castile & León (a thirteenth-century Spanish king who featured somewhat in my first degree).

I am, however, a recent Oxford music graduate preparing to transition to the law (i.e. the Bar), and so I anticipate a few more years of studying. And I may benefit from the advice of other users during this period.

At the moment, I’m applying/seeking advice on routes of progression, funding, and building a solid legal CV as rapidly as possible.

I will appear to seek advice as/when; otherwise, I expect to spend very little time here.

I have interests in certain areas of musicology (e.g. medieval music and related cultures), literature, textual criticism, politics, logic, etc. I also like cooking, running, and climbing, and I’m currently freelancing as a classical pianist and singer.

Welcome!

Very interesting profile! Yes, Alfonso X was a great man, and he did an incredible job to spread the Spanish language, when all over Europe the official language of the courts was mainly Latin. And he was also very important in terms of the Law, he wrote "Las siete partidas". He wrote music too, the "Cantigas de Santa Maria"! So, as far as I see, you chose your nickname very wisely. However, if medieval music is an interesting topic for you, remember that Spain was invaded by the Arabs, so Spanish music in the Middle Ages was hugely influenced by them. Have you heard Jordi Savall?
