any tips on memorising all the mechanisms??

The best thing you can do is to look for past papers with questions about mechanisms and to practice dilligently.

Which exam board are you with? You should be able to find summaries of all the mechanisms you need to learn and regularly reproducing it from memory under timed conditions may help.

AQA, i have a summary mind map and ive copied it out a few times but i feel like i never remember it but maybe i need to just go over them regularly

Hey, maybe try flashcards? I found this useful to memorise mechanisms and organic synthesis routes. I would put things like alcohol ----> alkene on one side then any conditions and the mechanism used in the process on the back. Therefore they can be used from either side. I did this with lots of things for chemistry a-level

Are there certain mechanisms you are struggling and if so why? if you have a concrete issue and need an explanation in detail, you can ask questions to the mechanisms here in the chemistry forum too. People like @TypicalNerd helps you with pleasure.

i dont think its any specific mechanisms, its just because they're very similar and remembering the conditions is something im struggling with.

Once you get the pattern and the cause behind the mechanisms, it gets easier. Be it intramolecular forces or motions or reactions by functional groups or electrophilic or nucleophilic reactions - you can do it, if you keep doing. That is why I think this goes for chemistry: the first step is always the hardest.

I’m in year 13 and should’ve taken the first step ages ago😭😭😭 not sure if it’s too late now
