I want to study business but it involves a lot of maths which is not my strongest point. Which business degree doesn’t involve a lot of maths as I want to study but can’t decide.

A lot of maths? Really?

The sort of maths involved is typically arithmetic and a bit of stats. If you have done GCSE Maths, you should be capable of doing the courses.

The more "mathematical degrees" tend to involve subjects in:

Economics

Finance

Accounting

Analytics - business, marketing, etc.

The sort of subjects with the least maths are usually in:

Business law

Human resources/organisational behaviour

Business ethics and social responsibility

The sort of subjects that are in the middle, because they involve some maths but they tend to be of minor note:

Business management

Marketing

Business psychology

Supply management/logistics

The sort of subjects that involve some "mathematical" thinking/logic:

Operations management

Information Systems

I am not entirely sure why you want to do a business degree (I have strong criticisms against it), but the above is more or less what you are looking for. If you want to avoid as much maths as you can, you can look into HR + Business Law degrees (there are only 2 UK universities that do both as joint degrees; it's usually one of the other).

There’s hardly any complicated maths in business, u should be all good to study business if u know arithmetic and to use formulas. So I would suggest Business and Management or smthg like HR.

Hi @goldenmaknae!⭐️

It’s wonderful to hear that you’re thinking about studying Business Management! I completely understand that the maths component might feel a bit intimidating if it’s not your strong suit, but let me reassure you: business management degrees typically don’t require extensive maths knowledge. Most of the time, the only modules that include some maths are accounting and research methods, and even these are designed to be approachable.🌟

The great news is that universities, including the University of Essex, provide plenty of support to help you succeed. From dedicated tutors to additional workshops, you’ll have everything you need to feel confident. 😊

At Essex, we offer the BSc Business Management, which could be the perfect fit for you. This degree gives you a broad understanding of how businesses operate while allowing you to develop skills in areas like marketing, entrepreneurship, leadership, and strategy. There are even options to tailor the course to your interests with optional modules or add an optional placement year to gain hands-on experience in the industry.

You’ll be studying at the Essex Business School, a forward-thinking school that focuses on sustainability and ethical business practices. The school is home to state-of-the-art facilities and a dynamic community of students and academics passionate about making a difference. 🌿💼

The University of Essex itself is an amazing place to study, with a welcoming, supportive environment and a beautiful Colchester campus filled with green spaces and great facilities. You’ll find a diverse and friendly community here that makes it easy to feel at home. 🌳

If you have any more questions about the course or the support available, feel free to reach out. You’ve got this, and I’m sure you’ll excel in your studies! 😊

Best wishes,
Essex Student Rep - Renaldas✌️
