University of Sheffield Student- Attending an Offer Holder Day!

Hi!
My name is Sofia, and I am currently a masters student at the University of Sheffield. I also did my BSc in Biochemistry here too.

Many of you will be starting to receive offers from universities, congratulations! At Sheffield, those who receive an offer can attend an Offer Holder Day. I thought I would share my experience of attending an Offer Holder Day, as this is what ultimately made me decide to go to Sheffield.

It is a great opportunity to spend more time with your department/course. It allows you to get a more in-depth look at the facilities within your department and also talk to some of your lecturers. You may be given a taster lecture too. I remember my taster lecture is what made me decide to study Biochemistry at Sheffield. The lecturers seemed really passionate about what they were teaching and there was a generally friendly vibe to the whole session, which I enjoyed.

We also got to talk to some current students in our department. In my case, this was one student studying Biochemistry and one studying Genetics. They gave us advice for first year and even talked about their favourite societies and best cafes to go to!

Overall, I highly recommend attending an Offer Holder Day as it gives you a great insight into what it will be like to study in your department at Sheffield. Upon receiving an offer, you should receive an email inviting you to book your place!

I hope this helps, and please don't hesitate to ask me any other questions you have about Offer Holder Days, Sheffield or university.
Sofia
