Psychology 2nd/3rd year

I’ll be a transfer student to DMU (2nd year) and was hoping get some information on the following:

How many exams and assignments are there for the 2nd/3rd year?

What are the contact hours like? Are lectures/seminars mandatory in that attendance is recorded, or is the content recorded to view online?

Are there any online exams?

Hey there 😁

How are you feeling? Excited? 🥳

Typically, you’ll have one assessment or exam per module, and occasionally a mix of two. By the third year, it’s more common to have just one assessment per module since you’ll also be working on your dissertation, which is recognised as being quite time-intensive.

As for exams, online ones are no longer the norm now that teaching has returned to in-person delivery. Exams usually take place on campus.

Contact hours are generally around 10 hours per week, spread across 2–4 days. While the timetable varies each year, this is a common pattern I’ve noticed.

Attendance is mandatory for both lectures and seminars. Lecture content is recorded, and PowerPoint slides for both lectures and seminars are available on the online learning platform. However, I highly recommend attending all classes - they’re incredibly helpful for preparing for assessments! 😁

I hope it will be helpful 💪 Feel free to reach out if you have any other questions 😉 You can also chat with me or other students directly through The Ambassador Platform.

Take care,
