dog euthanasia

I'm going to be saying goodbye to my lovely little dog tomorrow. The vet is scheduled for 12:30pm to come to the house.

There's no real question behind this post, I'm just looking for sympathy I guess.

She's 13 years old and we've had her since she was 8 weeks old. My heart is breaking.

I'm so so sorry :console:
I think it is kind that it will take place at home, as that will probably be less stressful.
Sending virtual hugs :hugs:

Sorry for your loss, but having the vet come to the home is lovely she'll go comfortable in her home and you know it's time prolonging itnwould be unfair this hurts but is right
Thank you both.

It's happening sooner now as she's in too much pain. 8:20pm tonight.

Yeah seconding this you're doing the right thing even if it hurts
Well it turned out that she passed about an hour before the vet was due to show up.

Thank you both for your kindness

oh no, i'm really sorry to hear that. i know how much it hurts. i had to go through the same thing with my old dog. even though now the whole thing is a blur now, because i was xanax-ed into oblivion - just to get through it - i still remember it being traumatic af.

but 13 years is a really good age for a dog. it really shows how well you’ve taken care of her. she must’ve had such a happy life with you.
Thank you Ciel, I'm sorry you've had to experience the same thing. It hurts like hell.
The three of you have been great comfort @iL1L @Stormgrad @Ciel
Thank you. Today has been very hard so it was very touching to have your support.

Hmm I slept about 4 hours last night
Woke up. Cried on and off for about 2.5 hours.
Then my mam rang me and talked for half an hour.
I then made lunch. Went to try and study (I have an assignment due on Thursday) but couldn't concentrate and just kept bursting into tears.
I had to ring the dog groomer to cancel her next appointment, which was terribly difficult.
I then helped my son study maths for an hour.
And I've now been trying and failing to study my own stuff for the past 2.5 hours.

I'm like a tap that keeps bursting.

That's totally understandable and perfectly normal. These are regular and valid feelings. Calling the dog groomer must of been difficult but well done for being able to take care of that. Are you possibly able to get a small extension on the assignment?

Also good for helping your son with maths. I as an adult still hate maths

I remember me when my first dog was euthanized, and how I buried him after the vet was gone. The pain still hurts and I needed days to cope with my sadness slowly. Send you my deepest sympathy.
So sorry to hear this PMP :hugs:  Sending love your way

What you told is very familiar to me. I went for walks, once even at sea to get comfortable with my nerves and thoughts. It is okay when you just do for a day or two what helps you.
Thank you all so much. Your support is so meaningful to me.

@Stormgrad I have been considering asking for an extension but part of me just wants the assignment out of the way. I'll see.
I'm picking up her ashes in the morning. I'm dreading it. She shouldn't be in a bloody scatter tube, she should be chasing a ball and coming for cuddles 💔
