Dropping out of current college to start over

I have two questions, first of all, as a lower sixth, could I drop out of the sixth form I am currenlty in (I am very unhappy and made the wrong choice) and apply to a new one to start this September (although I’d been a year older than everyone)

Secondly, if I can do this, and I got accepted into a different sixth form for September, what should I do in the meantime (five months until summer holidays)? Can I just leave education? Will my parent lose child benefits? (even thought it’s only a short amount of time and I will be going back into education)

Hi, I am also Lower sixth in Dulwich College, and I strongly doubt if you can “drop out” of your college, since it is not a university, but you can probably leave the school and move to another. Although I think all strong and prestigious sixthform colleges such as Westminster will not offer a place to someone who was already in lower sixth. What I suggest is that you apply for foundation year in university, since it is a great opportunity for substitute to A level, and you get advantage in that university application since you are internal applicant. My friend also left Dulwich and started his foundation year in Durham. I think this is your sole best chance. You do need a good or decent GCSE grades though(at least 5 subjects witn 9s and none below 7 I believe)
