Haha sorry I didn’t reply properly - what’s your background? I’m not a practicing lawyer so I’m not too confident, but still hopeful

No worries at all. I have a law degree (high 2.1) as well as a master's in public policy (distinction), but have never practiced law. Have worked for a humanitarian organization for about 15 years across the Middle East, mostly in the protection sector. Some research, publications and teaching related to human rights but nothing fancy lol. How about you? Edit - I should that I too am not confident but hopeful, nice way of putting it 😆

Ok wow that’s super impressive! Separate to this course, I’d honestly love to hear about your experience working in the Middle East! I feel like I can’t even say my experience after reading yours lol

I’ve got a Law/Political Science double degree (2:1/distinction) and have volunteered a bit and worked with NGOs assisting refugees. I have been working in the business & human rights space for 7 years both as a consultant and in-house.

Ha! Thank you 🙂 Your profile sounds great too, and the course offers a lot that would be relevant for a background in business and human rights. Sure, would be happy to chat sometime! I mostly work with/in refugees/durable solutions, so we have some common ground there.

For me, I think some of the tricky part is explaining after a lot of field experience and multiple degrees, why I need to go back to school, so I tried to make my PS very laser-focused on certain courses that would give me the tools to take our work to the next level. It was hard to compress into 500 words!

Yes, the 500 word limit was quite tricky. The laser-focus regarding how the course adds value to your work sounds like a great approach! Have you heard of anyone in previous years hearing back earlier than the 8-10 week deadline?

Also, I messaged you separately to connect on LinkedIn 🙂

I made an application recently - I’m working on frontline advocacy in Afghanistan for women’s rights in a UN agency promoting women and girls’ rights and freedoms. I did MA in law and diplomacy (distinction) and other UN diplomatic / human rights engagements, but my BA was Econ. Wonder if that will be a dealbreaker.

Your background and work experience sounds amazing! I think having a Masters in Law plus all the human rights field experience makes you a really strong candidate.

I have a Bachelor degree in Law but haven’t done a Masters yet.

Let me know if you hear back/your upload button disappears!

Nope, you? I think it’ll be mid-March based on previous years.
Doesn’t stop me from checking everyday though haha

No not yet, but I check every day as well. I just want the wait to be over. Once the upload button disappears, we can at least check page source and have a better idea of the outcome but right now there's quite literally nothing else to do but to wait - which sucks!

When you click on the course in your graduate application portal and click supporting documents, there’s normally an upload button at the bottom

I went down the rabbit hole and starting checking the source code on the same page. Definitely threw away at least half a work day.

Hey hey, nothing on my end. I did enough lurking to find out that the results should be released by "end of Hilary Term" which is this Friday... I also have tendonitis from refreshing the page all day.
