Masters degree vs Emirates

So, I recently was offered a job as cabin crew at Emirates after attending an open day on a whim. I didn’t expect to get the job. My plan for the year was to work to save to do a masters in September - an MSc in Finance so I could pivot careers. I spent most of my post-undergrad life (3 years) in hospitality as I fell into it, needing a job when I moved back home whilst trying to pursue a creative arts career. My dad is heavily pushing for me to take the job in Dubai and I want to go but I realised that when I return to do my masters, I would have to pay international fees without financial assistance. I am being stubborn on the fact that I want to do my masters because it’s been a few years since I used my degree and my degree classification is ok but since it’s been so long, it’s near impossible to find a 9-5 in the industry that I want to go into.

My dad is saying that working as cabin crew at emirates has a higher cv value than an MSc in Finance from a top uni. Although it would set my CV apart from everyone else, I’m not sure it has a higher cv value, especially for job roles in finance. I’m ok with putting off my masters for a year and a half to work at Emirates for a bit but it logically doesn’t make sense for me to go and come back and pay international fees, I’d have to save 98% of my salary just to afford the fees, never mind the living costs

I'd be very surprised if you found a role in finance that specifically asks for an MSc in Finance - they're usually for people who are trying to pursue academic research in finance. Having said that, a cabin crew job would mean very little in your job application for finance roles.

Instead, have you researched the professional qualification(s) you would need to work in the specific role in finance that you're hoping for? Most professional qualifications will cost less than £5000 (most only a few hundred). There is only one qualification that costs more than £5000 and that's the CQF (that only seems to be recognised in the UK for some reason) which costs £18000, which is cheaper than some master's degrees in finance from top universities.

In terms of your creative arts career, what portfolio have you put together?

No offence but your father does not know what he is talking about. It is wild to yhink that an MSc in Finance from Cambridge or LSE would be seen less than cabin crew.
