Ask an LJMU student

Hi my name is Matt and I am a student rep for LJMU. I am currently in my first year studying Business Management.
I took a gap year before starting university so joined a year later than the majority of the people in my year so I am happy to answer any questions relating to this! Also, feel free to ask me anything about business courses, life in Liverpool or any other relevant questions no matter how big or small!
I look forward to answering your questions 😊

Hi! I have applied for LJMU and will also be a year later than the majority. Can I ask how did you find it, are you enjoying it at LJMU? Thanks so much 😊

Hi @elo_12,
I can honestly say that joining LJMU has been one of the best decisions I have ever made! All the students, staff and locals in Liverpool are so welcoming and made me feel right at home from the get go. The Uni life in Liverpool is also amazing with so much to do and see! It is definitely up there with one of my favourite cities.

In terms of how I found joining a year later than the majority of people in my year, I was slightly anxious about it but was quick to realise that a lot more people join later than you think. I have managed to make a big group of friends who like me, did a gap year and so we are all in the same age group! I am also friends with people on my course who are a year younger and even a year or 2 older! Although it might feel daunting now to think of joining a year later, I can honestly say that there is absolutely nothing to worry about and you will have the best time!

I hope this response helps, let me know if you have any other queries! 😊

Hi @Rocky hockey

I hope you are well! Thank you for your question.

Accommodation is really down to personal preference as there are so many factors to think about such as price, location, how many people to share with etc. My best advice would be to ask yourself these questions, write down the answers and then follow this link to have a look at all the approved accommodation offered by LJMU. https://www.ljmu.ac.uk/discover/your-student-experience/accommodation/search

I found this website to be extremely useful as it has all the approved accommodations with key details about them all. When I was looking for the right accommodation, I used this link and worked my way through most of them. I came across one that sounded as though it fit my criteria and therefore opted for that. I stayed in grand central for my first year. It is one of the bigger accommodations and is located very central in Liverpool. It was not too expensive for me last year and I was sharing with 5 people which was ideal. I do recommend grand central as good first year accommodation, however it is the only one I can give an honest review about as I stayed there and not the others.

If you have any questions about the grand central accommodation then I am more than happy to help and equally so if you have any other questions about anything then please let me know.

Thanks, Matt 😊
