St Andrews or Glasgow for Computer Science?

I know ultimately this is my choice to make but I really want to hear people’s opinions who go to either of the unis or are doing the same course.

I’ve applied to comp sci, and comp sci and math in Glasgow. For St Andrews I applied for bio and comp sci (but I think if I did go I’d do comp sci and math).

As a Muslim who wears the hijab I feel like Glasgow has more diversity, I feel like I’d fit in more and enjoy my time there. From what videos I’ve seen on St Andrews they really lack ethnic diversity but I could be wrong about that. I love the traditions St Andrews has and the town is so pretty!

I’d really love to hear from students from St Andrews and Glasgow about their opinions on the uni and the course I’m hoping to study. If anyways knows how the isocs are in either uni pls lmk!

Hi there,

Great to hear you're thinking of studying here at Glasgow!

I can only speak from my own experience, but in my 2 years here so far I have met a really diverse range of people from lots of different religions, countries and backgrounds. The city itself is the biggest in Scotland, making it very multicultural as well. The West End and our campus aren't quite St Andrews, but are really pretty and right next to both the Botanic Gardens and Kelvingrove park! We also have two great student unions, where there's constantly stuff happening, and many of the clubs and societies host balls or ceilidhs throughout the year. I've really enjoyed my studies here so far, and the friends I have doing comp sci and maths degrees have said the same!

If you have any other questions please let me know!
