One grade below contextual offer for UEA, etc.

I want to go to UEA or Sussex but I am firming UEA and I’ve been offered a contextual offer of BBB, im confident i can get B in Psychology and English lit, but i feel like ill only achieve a C in Art due to my first project lacking, and my art teacher said it’ll be unlikely ill get more than a C (even though it is slightly possible). So, I think ill achieve BBC in a levels instead of the BBB offer. What’s the chance I wont get into UEA because of this? especially since its already a contextual offer.

We don't know - we'll find out on results day. It depends on all sorts of factors (general grade scope of cohort, how many people missed their offer etc).

Focus on trying to meet the offer, but if not there's probably still a chance.

Hi there,

First off, well done on receiving a contextual offer from UEA—it’s a fantastic achievement! It’s clear you’re working really hard, and I completely understand your concerns about meeting the conditions of your offer. While achieving the exact grades of your offer is always the safest route, universities like UEA tend to consider the full context of your application, especially if you’ve already received a contextual offer.

UEA is known for being supportive and understanding. If you achieve BBC instead of BBB, there’s still a good chance they may accept you, particularly if you show strong performance in your other subjects and a passion for the course in your personal statement. Universities often look beyond just the grades and consider your overall application, especially if you’re close to meeting the offer.

Additionally, on results day, UEA might still consider your place based on available spaces for the course. So, if you end up slightly short, I’d recommend calling them directly to discuss your situation and reiterate your enthusiasm for studying there.

Lastly, if you’re feeling uncertain about art, perhaps speak with your teacher to focus on the areas where you can maximise marks in your remaining projects—it’s not over yet! Best of luck, and I hope to see you at UEA! 😊 Let me know if you want to talk more about UEA or need help with anything else.

Best,
Daniel
