Predicted grades are entirely your school's decison.

you can ask?
maybe they put it lower because you didn't get consistently high grades- so that you won't be rejected by all your unis on results day, just in case things go badly. not that I'm saying they will.
is the term: no exam given thing the school not testing you or you not sitting the exam? cus that'll impact things too.

anyways, just ask!! the worst things that will happen is they say no.

no exam given was school not giving any exams. I sat all exams I was given. I will ask them, I just think that it’s rlly stupid bc I worked so hard getting almost 100% in my mocks and term 6 exam in maths, chem & physics. I will try get my parents involved as well, idk if that will make any difference, but I need AAA for my course I wanna do, so I will legit have to take a gap year

Your grades are far too inconsistent for an A grade prediction in maths. What is your 'working at' grade?

I would suggest that any conversation you have with anyone at school is in a *calm* voice and that you focus on 'what can I do now to drag my grades up' rather than getting annoyed about how hard-done-by you might feel. Ranting, or invoking parents, isnt likely to get you what you want.

My grade has been changed now to an A* for chem and an A for maths 🥰

Parents got involved by emailing, and my grade has been changed to A* in chem and an A in maths. It was very unfair before…i got almost 100% in my mocks!

Yes but that sort of performance should be evident every day in class. If a student of mine suddenly got a high grade then I'd make then sit an unannounced test.

Not good to involve parents either ..I am held to account for my predictions so for your teachers sake, work hard.

Genuine question how did you improve in chemistry so quick. I’m year 12 and horrendous at chemistry. I do aqa and have jus always been bad at chem so you have any plan I can go on to help me improve, I really wanna do med but chem is crushing my dream

I disagree, the OP has clearly worked extremely hard to get his grades to improve so drastically. I would argue that shows he has more drive that a student who has got As their entire life.

Being told you're destined to get a D in a subject and constantly getting Ds and Es is like a cyclical cycle that doesn't stop, breaking out of that loop is extremley commendable.

I think if the student, and his parents if necessary, plead their case and show that they can maintain this newfound high level then they deserve the chance to be predicted higher grades for access to better universities.

No-one ever just improves in one test without other evidence of hard work showing in class and homework.

I am held to account, quite rightly, for my predictions and it is very rare for anyone to miss their firm because of this. Pushing for higher, unrealistic predictions leads to clearing as offer are then missed.

So you're telling me if a student, got almost 100% in an A LEVEL exam in back to back terms but you dont think they "worked hard enough in class" you would give him a B despite achieving more than enough for an A* if those papers were sat today?

Also, back to the OP (my hypothetical is extremely unlikely) in a realistic case like theirs, where there were most likely is evidence of hard work in class and homework, you wouldn't bump up their predicted gradw in these last few days before the deadline?

You mention their grades are "inconsistent" but all I see if an consistently improving student making progress every time he sits an exam.

Their 'working at' grade is their prediction ie the grade I see in every, or nearly every, piece of work. A sudden 100% just does not happen, not in Maths.

The fact that my predictions are 99% correct over many years shows I have the right approach.

No pressure from anyone moves predictions in my school and, as I said, firm offers are met and that, at the end of the day, is what students deserve. It's pointless giving a grade the student won't meet and them ending up in clearing with no accommodation.
