University of York accommodation

Is anyone else thinking of firming York and starting to look at accommodation?

I’ve heard that Anne Lister and David Kato are the most popular/most applied to so i’m wondering whether it’s a waste of a choice to put them at number 1 and 2 in my rankings if they’re gonna fill up immediately?

Also could anyone who has lived on campus east let me know pros or cons of different colleges based on experience? I really like the look of all the accom on east and dont know how to rank them for my 7 choices!

Also are the shared bathroom options mixed or do you get assigned a specific bathroom so you’re with other people of the same gender?

Thanks!
I'm also a applicant (yorks my first choice too! what are you hoping to study??) so take what i say with a grain of salt lol. but i think it's at least worth it because the rooms are assigned randomly like it's not a first come first served basis. but abt the shared bathrooms from what ive heard at the open day the bathrooms are mixed but you and your flatmates can separate them, this girl i spoke to on campus west i think? said that doing that was pretty common!
hi!! im an offer holder too!! but not sure if id be firming york, but jic i wanted to start looking for accommodation too!!

Hi!

Are you booked in for a post offer visit day? You'll have the chance to look round different accommodation and get a feel for the campus.

I don't think choosing those colleges is a waste of a choice - honestly everyone has different things that they look for in accommodation. For example, a lot of departments are based on Campus West so a lot of students want to stay here in their first year.

Anne Lister and David Kato are the newest accommodation blocks, but the rest of Campus East is also really nice!

Our accommodation is mixed gender, but once you arrive I'm sure you could sort something out with your flatmates. My flat had 10 students with an even split of genders - we didn't assign specific bathrooms but that could be something you could work out 🙂
