GCSE impact on University

I am yer 12 student doing maths, computer science and physics.I came to the country in year 10 and I wasn't wise on my subject choices and I chose btech creative media at GCSE level and got a 5.5 or M2 but all my other grades are 6 and above
I have 2 sixes in business and English literature
3 sevens in religious education, English language and art
Eight in maths
And nine, eight in combined science
I plan to do computer science in university and hopefully get into a good one.
I am afraid the 5.5 would ruin my chances of getting into a good university.

Hello!

The 5.5 will not prevent you from getting into a good university, so please don't stress over it.
For computer science, most universities only have A-Level requirements and usually expect you to have at least 4/5/6 (depending on the university) in English Language and Maths GCSEs. Your 7 in English and 8 in Maths are good grades, so it is very unlikely that you will face any problems because of your GCSE scores!

(For example, at Lancaster University, the only requirement for GCSEs is a 6 in Maths and 5 in English Language, while UCL expects you to have 4s in Maths and English - so it seems like you have nothing to worry about!)

Best of luck with your A-Levels and getting into the good university you want! Computer Science is an interesting and rewarding degree to study 🙂
