Reapplying to uni

I currently have a deferred place at uni, for a course that requires A*AA. I applied last year and ended up receiving 2 offers while being predicted A*A*A. Im considering withdrawing and reapplying because I am not sure if I am still gonna be able to go to this uni in Sept but would like to keep it as an option. I ended up achieving A*AA and a B in Welsh bacc, which is lower than my predicted grades. I was wondering if anyone had any advice on whether id be less likely to receive offers this year vs last year as my actual grades are less than what my predicted grades were, or if unis will favour them more since I am applying grades in hand. I am scared of the risk of rejecting my place and ending up with nothing, or something worse than what I have right now.

You cannot hold a deferred place and also reapply.
To reapply you would need to cancel your 2025 entry place by phoning that Uni - you can't do it online.
Most Unis would be fine about you reapplying for the same course, but ask about their attitude/policy when you make the call.

Thanks for your response. I know that I must cancel my current place, but I tried to contact the uni a week ago about if they would still consider me, and they still haven't responded. For this reason I am unsure whether to just go ahead and withdraw/reapply anyway, but I am just scared of the risk of not having my place reinstated as my grades will appear less competitive this time around.

With the Jan deadline approaching they will have literally thousands of emails to answer.

I have tried, they just give general advice over the phone and tell me that if i want to speak directly to admissions I have to put a message on their portal which they aren't replying to

Which Uni?

KCL

KCL admissions are the worst.
Apparently incapable of using a telephone.

If you meet the standard offer conditions for other universities that you like then I would suggest that you get your UCAS application and reference all filled in ready to submit, see if KCL respond on Monday or Tuesday and if they don’t then call UCAS on Wednesday morning explain the problem. UCAS can withdraw the deferred place on behalf of KCL so that you can submit the new application.

You have good grades and should be able to get a good selection of offers to choose from.

Thanks for your response. They still haven't responded, i'm rlly worried. ☹️ Not sure whether to risk it. I probably shouldn't leave it until Wednesday, just so that there's time for my reference to be added.

You can start a 2025 application and get your reference added now. You just can’t submit it until the deferred place is withdrawn.
You’ve got really good grades so I don’t think you’ll struggle to get offers and I doubt KCL would fail to reinstate your deferred offer.

Which course are you applying for?

Oh okay, I will get that done now. I would be applying for Political Economy at KCL, Economics and Politics at other unis.
