KCLMS Interview - All Done!!!

Hey everyone - congrats to all those who got an interview offer for KCLMS (King's Maths School) and completed their interview today/yesterday - finally all done!

How did you all find it??

Hey there, I did the interview there this morning

The maths one was pretty fun and interesting and i did decent on it😭, however the personal interview i believe i did kinda mid

feeling unsure about the offer.
did u do the interview, and if u did how did u find it?

Heyy I had my interview yesterday!

I found the personal interview really chill and quite enjoyed it actually since I felt well prepared

The maths interview was overall okay - I made a few small errors inbetween (I think it was the nerves since I had maths first) but feel like I got the concept well so hopefully that was good enough for an offer - I'm sure you did great wishing you luck :smile:

)

Yess I hope so!

Unfortunately not, I remember that the initial of the first one was SAS and I don't remember the initials of the second one😂 was too nervous to ask I guess lollll

Hey there, I'm trying to get into KCLMS this year- do you have any advice on how I would prep for the entrance exam and interviews- how would you suggest I prepare in as much detail as possible?

This question has been asked quite a few times for various maths schools on TSR. Have a good search for past threads for details. Mumsnet has also covered this in great detail. 😄

AFAIK, all the maths schools recommend you do the UK MT Intermediate Challenge past papers as prep. You can look at the specimen papers but they tend to be a bit easier than the actual test.

There are two short interviews. One of these covers being taught some maths then working through a few related questions and explaining your reasoning.

There's also a personal statement to submit as part of the application.

Make sure you attend the open evening, it's usually online only and places are limited to 500 per session IIRC. They give lots more info on the application process, entrance test, interviews etc.

Have you also considered Imperial Maths School? It has some advantages over KCLMS e.g. having Woodside College next door to do a 4th A level and take advantage of more extra curricular activities.

Plus its first A level cohort got better results than Kings this summer in Physics and was quite close for Maths.
