How to study A-levels with dyslexia

Hello , I am dyslexic. I have recently been diagnosed with dyslexia( about 2 months ago) . I will be taking my A levels in May. And I am really struggling to revise and to do well.
Does anyone have stories about theirA levels which you could share of how you coped. Or any advice !!!
*I feel as though i have searched the whole web to find advice concerning my A levels and dyslexia and have found nothing 😤.

I can't speak from personal experience but make sure you have access arrangements in place for your exams.

I would speak to your head of year (or any teacher for that matter) and make sure you get extra time in exams (25% extra is standard) and if needed rest breaks, if you haven't got those access arrangements already.
Im not dyslexic but Ive both been friends with and tutored several dyslexic kids/teens, and am neurodivergent myself (currently doing a levels). Im not sure what subjects youre doing so sorry if this doesn’t help but i would suggest trying to make your revision as visual or movement based as you can. I like using clay to model processes, whiteboards for diagrams whilst doing questions, coloured pens to do notes, drawing silly sketches next to stuff to remember it, doing flashcards but i have to run to the other side of my room and write down the answer… i know this stuff sounds a bit random but it’s honestly helped me so much!

1.

What A-levels are you studying?

2.

Do you have any access arrangements in place? If not; you could ask if you could get them in ur exams! (You could use a laptop instead of writing by hand, have rest breaks, extra time, a smaller room or earplugs/headphones) - as these would definitely help in exams.

3.

The best thing to do is try do as much exam practice/questions as possible, then you could make a list of what you're finding most difficult, eg: spelling, timings.. and then could work towards improving in this area!

Thank you!! I really appreciate your advice. I will definetly try to be more visual with my leaning , as i defiently am not . I also really like the idea you mentioned about how you use your flashcards , so i will try that as well 😊

Hello
I do biology ,geography and chemistry .
I do have extra time however , I think it would be useful to use a laptop in my essay based subject to organise my ideas and structure . My report has been sent to school so hopefully that will be possible. Thank you for the advice.
