No-one needs 4 subjects, and although this is more do-able with Maths/FM, unless you need an additional two sciences, its still not a sensible idea. If the two sciences are more important for the degree subject you want to do, drop FM instead.

There are very few A Levels that have very little essay writing and I would say Chemistry is probably the better choice for you as A Level Geography has essay writing.

As someone who initally did Geography A Level then changed, I can provide some insight. I really enjoyed Geography at GCSE and did well in it but because of how broad Geography is, the amount and range of content at A Level was going to be too much. To get a good grade, I could see that I had to do a lot of reading and I wasn't passionate enough to commit. Also, I knew it wasn't a compulsory subject I had to do to get into uni so I changed it. That is just my personal experience with it, but without a doubt the content is interesting and you develop very useful skills from Geography.

Also, 4 A Levels are not necessary but if you want to take 4 go ahead, if you think it's too much work, most colleges will let you drop one. Most colleges also allow you to try a subject and change it within your few weeks for another so keep that in mind.

Good luck.

It really depends what field you want to go into - if you're certain that the career path you want to go down is STEM based then a fourth alevel is probably unnecessary. Alevels are a massive step up from GCSEs, don't fall under the assumption that there will be a smaller workload because there's fewer subjects. I know some schools don't allow you to take further maths unless its a fourth alevel, in which case the final subject you pick could be anything. If your abilities lie more within the scientific field then it is probably best to stick to STEM subjects. However if not I wouldnt recommend taking a fourth alevel, perhaps an EPQ would be a good way to demonstrate your literary skills without committing to an essay subject you might not enjoy for the full 2 years.
