Penultimate Year as a Placement Student

Most of the internships state that you have to be a student in your penultimate year of study, however, my penultimate year is a placement year, how do I apply? I personally don't mind changing to non-sandwich course since I am still in my first year.

Hi @SonicXAS

If you're wanting to undertake an internship before your placement year, I'd recommend looking for adverts where they don't specify for you to be in your penultimate year of study. These internships are usually put out by companies to attract students who are looking for experience as part of their sandwich year.

If and when you are looking for something for your placement year, you will then fit the criteria these internships are offering. Your penultimate year is a placement year and the internships require you to be in your penultimate year, so you are able to apply. You should be able to follow any job posts online or you could email/contact companies directly to send your application.

If you are looking for something now, I would suggest to keep looking and applying to different adverts, and you can contact places directly to see if they can offer you any work experience.

Hope this helps. 🙂
