Hi! I got a 9 in GCSE english lit aqa last year, and did love and relationships poetry. I used the notes on Physics and Maths tutor to help, and I recommend! They also have the notes for power and conflict! Here is the link: https://www.physicsandmathstutor.com/english-revision/gcse-aqa/power-and-conflict/

good luck!

Mr.Salles and Mr everything english are a couple of great YouTube channels that have analysed everything! Though there are so so many English teachers who have made videos going through every line if you don’t like them. If your happy to pay money then the lightuphub is genuinely the best website for condensed notes, essay plans, videos, context and everything else! Save my exams is a free alternative for condensed notes as well as quizlet for quote analysis.

Were the Physics and Maths tutor notes detailed enough for a 9?

I definitely think so! You can also find a lot of grade 9 analysis tips on tiktok and other social media platforms. The PMT ones give a really good basis which you can also come up with your own in-depth analysis off of.

I would say about four quotes for a select 5-7 poems, which cover all of the main themes. there is no point in learning all of the poems as it is unattainable and sort of uneeded. For example, I learned about four quotes from 6 poems; Remains, Charge of the Light brigade, Prelude, Tissue, Ozymandias, and Exposure. Make sure you also have context, analysis and background of your selection in detail, and then have a basic understanding of the other poems that could come up in the exam. This got me a nine in my GCSE, but don't feel inclined to pick my six poems if others like Checking Out Me History or London resonated more with you as long as you can fit them to the themes, better to do ones that you feel confident with.
