Applying to Ancient History with Archaeology personal statement..?

So i'm still deciding on my choices(late as hell i know but, oh well) for archaeology, and one of my priorities is staying close to home and preferably, not having to move. However, there's only one university I can stay at home for that does archaeology local enough to me: that being York; and I was wondering if I could also apply to Leeds for ancient history as I would feel more comfortable with another local choice, and ancient history is another of my interests and isn't too far from archaeology.

My only concern is my personal statement clearly being centred around archaeology; i fear this may prove problematic in proving my interest to the university about what is essentially a different course. Anyone know what I should do, and whether my personal statement will prove fine enough?

Hi @hiiiiii765

Its great to hear you want to do archaeology I am a current masters student at University of Southampton studying Archaeology palaeoanthropology, but I also did my undergrad degree in Archaeology and Anthropology. I applied through clearing so my personal statement had nothing to do with archaeology and I still got in. I know the situations are different but in my opinion this should be fine. If I was you I would try to intertwine some Ancient History into the personal statement as you said they definitely compliment each other so personally I can not see why this would be an issue.
Hope this helps
