Eligibility

I am currently in my second (and final) year of a Post-Graduate Diploma of Law. This has been funded by my employer and therefore I have not taken out any loan with SFE.

I intend to start an LLM in September 2025, for which I will need a SFE loan to finance.

There is an option to add a dissertation onto my Post-Graduate Diploma, which will involve extending the studies until October 2025. This will turn the Post-Graduate Diploma into a MA.

Since at the time of enrollment onto my LLM in September 2025, it will be my first masters, will I still be eligible for student finance?

Since the Post-Graduate Diploma is identical to the MA, save for the addition of a dissertation, is there anything stopping me from putting the PGD on hold for 6 months/1 year/2 years until I am further into my LLM, and then completing my dissertation at a later date. My aim is to be able to eventually be able to graduate with both an LLM and an MA.

Thank you

Hi there,

Can you confirm the full name of the new course, what university will you attend and how many years will the course last? Would this be a standalone masters course?

Thanks, Drew
