Business related part time jobs for students in London?

Hey I’m currently in my second yr of college and plan to go uni this September to study Business with Finance.

I’m wondering what part time jobs are good for students, I don’t want to do hustles or digital products. Wouldn’t mind a remote job or just a job.

Tbh I would prefer a part time job in the finance or accounting industry but usually the ones around me want experience but no one really offers much to students. I have an insight day experience with KPMG and Voluntary experience at a charity in retail. Also virtual experiences.

Does anyone know what’s the best site or place in Greater London that has vacancies open right now, I have 4 days off college so I would like to work. Any tips or help would really be appreciated, thanks!

I’m not really sure what position I want to do but it would probably be in Audit.

Oh I did in 2 unis and got the offers but they aren’t as reputed as my first option. And my first uni option needed a grade 7 in Maths (I have a 6) to do A&F so I could either do business with finance or Finance foundation yr to then progress into accounting and finance if I get 70%.

Lol I’m confused on which of those 2 to pick but leaning towards the business with finance cuz it has a professional placement yr and the uni is know for employability in the business related fields.

I'm not too sure if the reputation of the uni matters, i think its just the grade u achieve, also check if those 2 unis are accredited by the ICAEW qualification. But id also do some research if the reputation of the uni matters in accounting.

Someone told me that it’s better to focus on experience because I can get my accreditation qualifications later on and that companies care more about the experiences, the business with finance does offer only 4 of the ICAEW accreditation so I’m not sure.

I think I’ll regret it if I choose to go LSBU or Kingston rather than City (which is my first choice) 🥲

Hm it’s more of a year industrial placement so one yr work experience and then going back to complete my degree.

u can do the similar with ur accounting degree, in one of ur years at uni u can do an intern in which u may be able to get a grad scheme with the firm.

I’m not really sure what a grad scheme means but I’ll look into it, tbh i heard internships can be hard to get sometimes.

Tbh if I get an internship in my second yr and then the grade scheme, I can just carry on learning and drop the placement year.

Ngl idk if I should do accounting and finance or business with finance, I wanna become a financial analyst and everyone has mixed opinions😭

grad scheme is when u get offered to work to the CA qualification after u have graduated these are highly competitive also. Same as internships, which can be hard but can always get one with a smaller firms. I mean after u have worked in audit and qualified, u can easily become a financial analyst, the only reason why i want to do Accounting and finance is due to getting prior knowledge before working, and also exemptions for the CA qualification.

U reckon I do accounting and finance with the less reputable uni compared to my first option that offered me business with finance and has a better reputation among accounting and finance companies?

I’m a bit stressed abt not getting a job after uni, everyone says do apprenticeship but it’s taking a min to get one.😭

Im in a similar position, as idk if i should do an apprenticeship or go to a top uni aim deciding to go either glasgow or edinburgh after my exams, For me apprenticeships sound great but i fear that there isn't any social life involved and also don't want to be put in work this early in my career. As by going to uni i can socialize and get a grade required to do a grad scheme, and apply for multiple firms, its easier if u have a good grade at uni. Personally if i was u decide on which degree u think u will be better at, id say the business with finance is more towards ur financial analyst, but remember u can do that as well with an accounting degree. Also i'd recommend researching if the reputation of a uni matters.

Also ur uni choice for accounting and finance is accredited by the ICAEW so its fine if u go that uni.

Oh fairs, tbh everyone says apprenticeship is the best way to get into that field whenever I mention uni which kinda makes me feel like I’m gonna be doing the degree for nothing.

Also I have heard that apprentice usually work lot of hours and do lack a social life because as they’re paid less and so given me more hours. This is what I saw on TikTok but some say it’s great.

Idm to do uni and start working later but I just want to make sure I’ll be getting into the field after uni at least. 🥲

I have seen someone do uni and then do apprenticeship which sounds like hell😭

Yeah on tiktok they only show the advantages, but as u said they work a lot of hours, this will be like u on the grad scheme as well, uni and apprenticeship is mad, but he probably left uni then done an apprenticeship. not graduate then do an apprenticeship.

Na it was a women, she did uni for 3 years (not sure which course) and then proceeded to do a level 7 apprenticeship in audit at 24 or smth. She was bragging about how easy it was to secure an apprenticeship with a degree. Long day😭😭
