Re: polish a-level

Hi,
I sat A-level Polish last year and I done the same book and film as you (Popiol i diament and Katyn).
I have a few resources that I'll link below but overall my study method consisted of making character sheets with their relationship to others as well as their motives and how that affected their actions. Another important aspect especially for Katyn was to read up on the historical context.
For the research I won't be much help as I did tourism and focused on different regions and how they have evolved but for communism I'd imagine you'd focus on a few key aspects such as - the church and how it held up under communism ( Jan Pawel drugi), solidarnosc, possibly how society functioned PRL and the long ques.

For Popiol i Diament make sure to read up on the "pokolenie kolumbow" - the kids that grew up with the war and the AK and the historical context for them.

do you know if I have to use quotes from the books or if i can get away with being really descriptive? if i do have to use quotes, how many would you suggest i memorise?

Hey definitely refer to something. Use something as reference. Pick up key quotes within the book from key lines of text. Then it’ll help towards you gaining more marks because you will have something to back you up with as a source of evidence when you do become descriptive in your answer.

for the research project for tourism how did u structure ur essay? did u focus on comparing each region to the article? My teacher told me to write a pre-made essay including my own examples so that in the exam i can just add in comparative info that is based on the article. I kinda get it but since there aren’t any examples online i just wanna make sure this is the sort of way you answer it.
