UCAS - reapplying

Hi i am a first year student. I am still currently studying my course but I am submitting a new application because I am 90% sure I am going to study at home next year. I have not enjoyed my time at uni so far and I would be better at home studying. However, I am aware I need to declare my current study. I am worried that by declaring on my application I am currently in Uni, this may reduce or hinder my chances of getting offers from unis this year? (I do meet and exceed the grade requirements for the unis I am applying for). I want to go to uni closer to home that’s why I am reapplying but I am very worried my current study will affect my chances of getting an offer. Do you have any guidance or knowledge on this? Any help would be appreciated  (i’m stressing)
It would only potentially make a difference for
Medicine or Oxbridge apps, (deadline for both has passed so you’re not in that boat). Sometimes a uni might be interested as to why you’re applying to the same subject elsewhere, but otherwise it’s not a disadvantage.

Hi,

Have you looked into transferring universities instead of restarting the course again? This may be possible at some universities if the course and content you have studied are very similar. This is known as 'advance standing,' and will allow you to progress with your degree without having to restart.

In terms of reapplying at another university and restarting, I don't think your current study will affect your application. Although you must declare it, most universities are more than happy and willing to take on new students so the fact that you have already been at another university doesn't change their willingness to accept you so I wouldn't worry too much about this.

Good luck!

Hi thank you for taking the time to reply
I have emailed both unis at home enquiring about transfer, but I haven’t got a reply from either.
If i submit my UCAS before the deadline, would it still be possible to organise transfer arrangements even after the deadline if i communicate with the uni directly?

Hi,

I would suggest finding the contact number for both universities in order to fast track your queries.
I think it should still be possible but this will be entirely dependent on each university's policies.

Try calling them up and explaining your situation as they will provide the most relevant and tailored response.
