CRGS- when do I find out if I get accepted or rejected?

I feel like I’ve fked up my application 🥲🥲
first I sent it off when it was unfinished so I had to send in my updated personal statement via email
secondly in a box where it asked me for the gcses I already did and the grade I gained.. I stupidly put my yr10 mock grades which were horrendous.
I just made myself look dumb, stupid and like I didn’t care about this application at all😭😭
but I’m just wondering when I find out about my acceptance / rejection

Oh, I see what happened now. It's not such a big deal as you imagine it is! They have hundreds of application and surely on the next day they won't even remember what happened or who it happened with. Again, the admissions policy says the places are decided on the basis of academic performance. When I met the head students they said even your personal statement doesn't affect whether you get in or not, I guess it's for the meeting to help us choose the options. There is still some time left to do our best in GCSEs, good luck!

there was a question that said “gcses already done and grade acquired” and I had no idea what that meant as I didn’t know some people could have already gotten some of their gcses already. I put in my yr10 mock grades just to screenshot and ask my sister if that was what the question was asking me, but before I knew it I pressed submit and then my application was send half finished,
I’ve also applied to KEGS, but Im still not sure on how their system works, I’m pretty sure you just register your interest and when you get your grades in the summer that’s when u make your formal application. Either way, the whole application situation with CRGS has made me overthink it wayyy to much,, bc god knows what they’ll think when they see my abysmal yr10 mock grades 😭

I was on a meeting in CRGS on Tuesday and it's the closest grammar school to my house so I really hope for an offer. They said the decisions will be announced by the half term so I think it should be tomorrow.
KEGS only opens the applications on the results day so it is a bit scary because you're completely uncertain where you go until the week before the college starts, I don't like it very much...

I'm really sorry to hear that! You can still apply on the GCSE results day if you do well. I got an offer and the conditions of it is that I simply meet the minimum entry criteria(which are not that high) with my actual GCSE results. So who knows maybe if you come they will admit you with such results even without an offer.

Also, the subjects like sciences(that you are taking) and further maths are the most competitive to get in for in grammar schools because a lot of people wants to do them.

For CRGS it's minimum is about 8.4 predicted(including Maths and English) and for KEGS it's about 8 actual, both are average over the best 8 qualifications. But in the end they are probably the same. Mine predicted according to CRGS rules(so increding English and Maths) is 8.875, I'm predicted many 9s, but an 8 in English🥲
What's yours?

You can read some admissions statistic here, it's actually not 8.4 but 8.38. Predicted mean score is just the mean of your best 8 GCSE predicted grades(including English Language and Maths for CRGS) and it has to be around 8.4 minimum to get in. If you are predicted 6s and 7s you can try girls grammar schools(if you are a girl obviously), they have lower entry requirements. I applied to both Colchester and Chelmsford and they didn't give decisions yet. But these grades are really good, if you go to Colchester Sixth Form or whatever is the equivalent in Chelmsford you will probably be one of the top students there!

I never revised French much, for reading and listening you simply need to know the vocab well(and I mean actually memorise the specification) and practice past papers. There isn't much more you can do about it. But it will probably be quite different for you because French is my 5th language(and English is my 3rd) so I learnt it with no effort. I know how it feels to learn your first foreign language and it's awful, I've been learning English since I was 5 and it never went well...

CCHS is a girls only sch so I wouldn’t be able to attend,, my sister went there but she was a straight 9s across all her subjects 🥲 all I know is that she revised everyday for most of yr11, also I only do 7 gcses?? eng, maths, science, history, socio, french and art?? Or does it see eng lit & lang as different subjects?

Well, of course you need to revise every day to get such results. English and science always count as 2 GCSEs each(unless you do triple science) so you are doing 9 GCSEs and you'll get 9 grades. It's very surprising you don't know about it in February before your exams😮

Those decisions will be offers subject to results.

I meant their decisions on who they give conditional offers, sorry if I didn't make it clear. But once you get it the results they ask for are not as high at all compared to the predicted grades you need to get this offer.

So yiu also need to check over-subscription rules. If the grades required are low-ish then far too many students will get them and the school will be over-subscribed.
