A levels struggle

Hi,

I have to pick my A level options before February, and I am not sure what is the best options for my career of choice. I want to study medicine ( preferably at a russel group as my grades enable me to have that as an option) and my picks so far are Biology and Chemistry I need two more options but I am confused as to wether I should pick two humanities options to balance it out or physics and maths etc to keep it scientific. I don’t know what’ll increase the chances of me getting an offer at a RG.
Also oxford’s website says they will not look at my fourth A level grade, should I still do a fourth one to seem more interesting and competitive? Or just stick to 3.
Thank you very much

There isn't much real benefit to you doing 4 A Levels - a lot of people do 4, it isn't particularly 'interesting'. While of course you might enjoy the extra challenge or might want to take 4 subjects for different reasons, it's not something that would make a major difference in whether you get offers at a RG. Most of the people I know at both my RG uni and others only did 3 A Levels, and the advice I got from a lot of people when choosing my A Levels was that it's better to get three great grades, than four decent grades.

It's most common for people to do bio, chem, and maths if they're interested in med, but I can't comment on experiences of actually getting into med school on a personal level as that's not my course.

I would recommend psychology as a third option and no need to do 4
