Is anyone currently at the Uni of Sheffield, and lives at one of the private halls? What is it like and which would u recommend? xx

Hi,
I don't live in private halls, but I've got friends who have lived in them. Generally, they are really good in terms of amenities and are social places to live, but not as noisy as some of the university accommodation blocks. However, they can be much more expensive and further away from the main accommodation blocks that students live in. If you are looking for first year, I would recommend going somewhere close to the Endcliffe/Ranmoor/City accommodation blocks, so you can walk to lectures and into town with people. But after first year, people tend to spread out across the city anyway and you'll know your way around so it makes less of a difference where you live.
Hopefully someone who has lived there can give you a better idea too.
