A level pyschology

Hey so im year 11 and im thinking about taking Alevel pyschology as i think i will fine it very interesting and i have looked at the topics very scarcely, i do triple science and im aiming at 6's for all 3 subjects. I am going to do biology with it as ive heard they go well and i love biology. Can someone tell me in more depth the topics you learn ( i cant go on websites due to parent restrictions ) and is it really content heavy and what did you like/ hate the most. I think the exam board i will be taking is AQA but it might also be Excedel thanks!

i do Edexcel psychology, so here's a breakdown of what we do for it:

biological psychology, which is essentially looking at the structure and functioning of the brain and other things such as hormones and genetics. there's mostly a focus on the explanations of aggression, and there's a bit on Freud as well

social psychology, which mostly looks at different explanations of obedience and prejudice

cognitive psychology, where you mostly focus on how memory works and different models of memory

learning theories, which is mostly about social conditioning

clinical psychology, so stuff on mental illness and disorders. you'll have to look at the symptoms, explanations and treatments of schizophrenia and another mental condition chosen by your school (either anorexia, ocd or depression)

then you'll study another topic as well chosen by your school (I do criminological psychology)

for each topic you have to remember key studies in detail, do a practical investigation and also answer a 'key question' about society that relates to the specific topic. it's pretty content heavy, but id say it's manageable and not too bad though you'll have to memorise a ridiculous amount of studies on top of the ones named in the specification.

hope this helps
