what locations/ hospitals are used during placement

Good afternoon,:hello:

Our BSc Operating Department Practice Course is run at our Medway Campus.

When studying this course 50% of your time will be spent on clinical placement, where you will be working a 37.5- hour week as per HNS working patterns. This will mainly be within an operating theatre where you will experience a wide range of anaesthetic, surgical, and post-anaesthetic interventions. In addition, you will develop a wider understanding of healthcare and the needs of patients through clinical placements in other settings such as the ward area, A&E, ITU, or HDU. The university has placement blocks which means typically when you are on placement for example 6 weeks you won't be required in university and vice versa.

The university works in partnership with major healthcare providers across Kent and Medway. The location of your placements can be up to 90 minutes from your term-time address, and you'll need to be available to work irregular shift patterns, which will weekends and nights.

Please find out more about our placements: https://www.canterbury.ac.uk/about-us/faculties-schools-and-departments/faculty-of-medicine-health-and-social-care/what-to-expect-on-placement

If you have any further questions, please let us know as we are happy to help!
