MA Social Work

Hello everyone.

Does anyone have a list of books they used when studying a degree in Social Work?

Thanks
Sam

Hi @Ssaammm159

When I first started my social work course, I have found it rather helpful to check my course modules online and look for the suggested reading for each module. In my experience, each module has one or multiple reading lists which are created by the module leaders, and are sometimes organised by topic/subject, which makes it easier to navigate and find what is most relevant to what I am currently studying. There are quite a few authors/theorists that we often come back to in any social work course.
A book that was recommended by my course leader prior to starting my course was Professor Prospera Tedam's Anti-Oppressive Social Work Practice (Transforming Social Work Practice Series) (2024), which you may be interested in reading.

Hope this helps
