Is a hybrid year worth it ?

Hi. So essentially im in year 13 and looking to take a gap year after A levels to apply to Cambridge. I heard people mention a ‚‘Hybrid year‘, where you apply for university, go for the first year , and if you get rejected from Cambridge the second time round you just continue at the university you are in, but if you get in, then you would switch to Cambridge and have a years worth of experience at another university. Is this worth it at all, or is it better to just do the gap year. Can someone list the benefits / drawbacks?

Cambridge very rarely takes applications from people who are already at a UK university. People are not routinely doing this. The only way you could is if you change subject massively and have got the A levels to do it. Pretty stupid waste of a year's money as well.

But how would they know you are at another uni and not just a regular gap year applicant? Also how do you know they rarely take applications from people already at a uk university? (Sorry to ask i just want to be sure )

If you are attending a university you need to declare that when filling in a UCAS application to attend another university.
That's how they would know.

threeportdrift is very knowledgeable on Cambridge admissions, they have a lot of experience in this area. That's how they know.
