Good morning @Brooklynne !
If you are concerned about not being able to share a flat whilst at university, I would recommend looking into private accommodation. Using private renting means that you can still live in student accommodation, with access to student life and others studying in Newcastle, but you can choose who you live with.
The main difference between private flats and university-owned halls is the application process, rather than going through the university application you would look yourself for private halls in Newcastle and apply directly to the companies which own them. Some examples in Newcastle are Abodus Living and Unite Students. I would recommend having a search online!
Alternatively, you could look into renting a student house in one of our popular student areas (Jesmond, Sandyford or Heaton). Most students end up living in these houses after first year and the best part of Newcastle is the city is small and well-connected so you can still meet other students and visit their accommodation if you would like. However, I would always advise doing viewings of private houses as they can vary in price and quality - so if you are not able to come and view the houses I think private halls are the best option!
I hope this has been helpful and if you have any further questions please do ask! I recently graduated from Newcastle University and I appreciate how important finding the right accommodation is. ☺️
