Hi there
For your first midwifery placement, you can expect an immersive but challenging experience. Initial placements often involve observational roles to help you adjust to hospital settings, familiarize yourself with equipment, and understand shift patterns. You may witness childbirth and emergencies, which can feel overwhelming but are invaluable for learning. Organization is key—prepare your uniform and bag in advance, and manage your time effectively. Be ready for long shifts and balancing academic work alongside placement duties.
Robert Gordon University (RGU) is highly recommended for midwifery due to its supportive faculty, strong clinical partnerships, and excellent graduate outcomes.
