Ways BCU has prepared me for my future career as a teacher

Whilst studying Primary Education at BCU, I have had lots of experiences that have helped me to prepare for my future career, including:

Placement
Each year I have one block placement in a school. So far, I have been in Year 4 and Year 1 so have had experience in Key Stages 1 and 2. During these placements I have observed lots of lessons, supported the children, and planned and taught my own lessons. We also have to do one week of additional school experience per year. This is a week where we can choose where we go to get extra experience working with children.

Modules
All of my modules help me to prepare for my career. We have foundation and core subject based modules which have taught me ways to teach the different subjects. We also have professional studies modules which give a really good insight into the different parts of teaching and how we can support all of the children.

Facilities and Practical Opportunities
During our lectures, we often have access to facilities and equipment that are similar to what they have in primary schools. This helps us to understand how different things can be used to enhance our future lessons.
