Hi,

Firstly, make sure that you know not only the content well, but how to actually answer the exam questions. Exam technique is so important, and can easily be the determining factor between lower and higher grades. So go to your specification, look at the "command word taxonomy" and read what each command word is asking you to do.

Apply that when doing past paper questions. Really, I can already guess you're probably sick of hearing this, but past papers questions are so good in helping you recognise patterns in papers, especially as some questions are repeats in papers.

If you're stuck on content, then watch videos on a whole topic (not a unit, a topic) - freesciencelessons or whatever you prefer - and make a mind-map without any help from the web. Use what you remember and understand from the video to help you out. I like to use the specification and go point by point down it, trying to answer every question/point it mentions/asks.

Hey, I got a 9-8 overall in my combined science when in the first mock I got a 7-7 and the second mocks and 8-8 and in year 10 i was anywhere between a 5 and a 7 but I did do aqa I would definitely recommend Cognitos website where you can do a lot of practice questions online to test what you Know. I also made notes from Seneca which a lot of people don't find helpful so I guess it's up to you if that what works.

An overall summary Is that I did a lot of Practice questions from cognito and seneca which wern't all longform like the tests and used this to help me find knowledge gaps. I also looked at peoples Model answers you can sometimes find them in Gcse walk through videos on youtube or if you just search them up, and compare your previous tests with the answers to see what I am missing from your answer. If your on a 7 it might just be futher analysis that you need but i dont know cause I havent seen your tests.

I hope you find this helpfull if not I hope someone gives you the answer you need

Best of luck on your Gcse's

oh sorry. I can't really tell as without seeing your test it could just be not enough analysis or losing a couple of marks on questions for not displaying enough knowledge. Mabye you could ask your teachers is there good about where you losing marks then people may be able to provide better suggestions.

For me in Physics I usually lost marks for not converting numbers to different units fully which means that i would lose marks on the equations but yh

Hope you do well on your gcse's tho

Oh sorry I cant really remember I did my Gcse's Last year but that sounds about right It really just depends on the grade boundaries as they change depending on how the year did. It also depends if it was a low 8-7 or a high 8-7
sorry i cant be of much help

Hey, I can't speak for your exam board but when I did physics last year there were loads of calculation questions which could be tricky - they required more application than just knowledge - if you didn't get used to using/rearranging equations but were also easier marks to pick up of you could do them and didn't make any silly mistakes. How's your maths? If that's an area you drop marks in often I'd say that's a good place to start. Also, I only skim-read the comments so sorry if I've made you read the same thing twice. Anyway, hope this is helpful!

If i'm honest I did a lot of things that people didn't advise like making flashcards with notes on them so i do't rlly recommend that unless your someone who finds that helpful like me. I also really watched freesciencelessons and this other channel I will find the name and tell you but the guy did stuff like all of biology paper 1 in 25 minutes and they where really helpful. I also did a lot of seneca and cognito questions to practice but that’s all.
