car insurance - divorced parents

I'm looking at first cars, at my mum's house the cheapest insurance I can find is £3k for the year (Citroen C1 with a blackbox) But at my dad's house the insurance is £1k a year for a Citroen C1, still with a blackbox.
Will it be an issue if I have my insurance set to my dad's house because my license says my mum's address? I spend roughly the same amount of time at each house and if I can save £2k it'd be nice :')

The relevant question is where the car is usually parked overnight, not what it says on your licence. The insurer assesses risk by reference to where the car spends most of its time. You could in any event notify DVLA to change the address on your licence.

Licence and car do not need to be registered to same address

If I were you I would just ''make sure that you spend more days at your dads than your mums'' if you know what i mean

As the other person has said, make sure that you put the address on the Insurance that is your "main" living address. Also the insurer will want to know where you are parking the Car at night. All in all you want to be careful because any wrong answer could either invalidate your insurance and/or if serious they could say Fraud (whats known as "fraudulent misrepresentation". Personally ,I would call them, they always record call, tell them that you live for more time (dont need to say more than that) at your dad's adress (and then make sure you do ,if only 1 day more) and check see what they say. That will cover you if anything goes wrong etc !!

You spend more time at Dad's house yes ?. Well you will have to from NOW onwards and that will save you £40 per week !! And I am presuming that you get some Mail sent to your Dads address, where you stay more time than you do at Mums.
