how’s the sport scene like in unis for women?

I really wanna learn to play football, never really had a chance and I’m super interested.
Are there clubs in uni for anything similar? Like sports clubs for beginners or whatever cause it’s kinda nerve wrecking 😭

Hi there,

There absolutely are opportunities for you at university!

Not all sports are competitive. I've found that sports and societies are open to anyone, even if you aren't a master in the sport. They usually have competing teams, and then some for fun! Joining right at the beginning of the year and attending the taster sessions are a great way to learn a little more about the sport, and find out if it's something you'll want to continue to do.

It can be nerve-wracking, but it's a great way to make friends and get involved in your university community!

I hope this helps,

Isabella

Hi!

Most sports societies have a beginners/development team that allows you to playing develop at a new sport and be involved with the social side of the society.

Hope this helps! Faye 🙂

Hi there,

Here, at our university we have many sports clubs and societies. The competitiveness of sports can be overwhelming however not all sports are the same. We offer a number of sessions where you can just 'Turn Up and Play'. Come alone to meet new friends or even bring your flat mates or course mates. More universities will do similar activities for beginners which are a great way to try something new without a long term commitment. We also have a women's football team with two competitive teams. One that competes at a higher level and one which competes with lower level leagues, so there is something for everyone at the University of Central Lancashire 🙂

Hope this helps 🙂
