Applying to Dental Therapy / Dental Hygiene

What qualifications are people applying with to these courses?

I'm a qualified dental nurse, with A-Levels (no science), GCSEs, BA honours degree and currently doing an Access to HE Science course.

Same, I did an access course, previous unrelated degree, and dental nursing qualification. If you go through mature students of the uni you’re applying too they might be able to help you through knowing you’re covering all the requirements.

I’m applying with A-Levels in Chem, Maths and Bio predicted AAA. Feel like a disadvantage compared to all the dental nurses!! 😫

Its not a requirement for any of the courses I've looked at so they'd have to look at you equally

Unis will have a mature students department, if you look on their website. And they offer support to mature students as they know they don’t have the benefit of a college or school supporting them through the process of applying

I wouldn’t worry. It seems like dental nurses are at a disadvantage because they look like they prefer school qualifications over any nursing experience 🤣

its very 50/50 on school leavers and dental nurses, us dental nurses have a very good understanding of the job role and the GDC, which is why theres a very high acceptance rate for nurses getting on the course, there’s absolutely no disadvantages xx
